Shopping at the Pantry

If you are registering for the first time or returning to shop, you do not need to bring anything with you.

We keep our process simple and low-barrier so it’s easy for neighbors to access food when they need it. We will provide new shoppers with a shopper card to help speed up registration each time you  shop.

You will be asked the following questions once per year:

  • Name
  • City
  • Number of people in your household
  • Income eligibility

As a recipient of food through The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), we ask for a verbal attestation that your household meets income eligibility guidelines.

If you have shopped with us before, you will be asked to confirm this information once per year. If you have your shopper card, please bring it to help speed up check-in, but it is not required.

By-proxy shopping allows someone else—such as a friend, family member, or neighbor—to pick up groceries on your behalf if you are unable to come in person.

Please complete a by-proxy form and bring it with you when shopping on someone else’s behalf.

Food & Items Available

We only provide baby food or formula when it is donated, so availability varies.

We recommend contacting 211 to find additional resources for baby food and formula in the community.

Household items like dish soap and laundry detergent are available only when donated and are not always in stock.

Many foods are still safe to eat after the date listed on the package. These dates are typically guidelines for quality, not safety.

We follow food safety standards to ensure the food we distribute is safe. For more information, please review “Is This Food Still Good?” (English and Spanish) from Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana.

We source food through a mix of:

  • Community donations
  • Retail partners
  • Local organizations
  • Support from Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana

This allows us to provide a variety of fresh and shelf-stable items.

Volunteering

We’d love to have you involved! Visit our Volunteer page to learn about volunteer opportunities.

Donations

We gladly accept donations as long as items are not past their use-by date.

Donation drop-off times:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Tuesday, Thursday: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Please bring donations to the back of the building (parking lot area) and drop them off by the freight elevator. If no one is there, you can ring the doorbell located by the glass window.

No. Mid-North Food Pantry is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and is not operated by a larger organization or church.

We rely on the generosity of our community through donations, volunteers, partnerships, and support from individuals, businesses, churches, and local organizations.

While many of our incredible supporters are connected to churches and community groups, Mid-North Food Pantry is a separate nonprofit that is open to all and dedicated to serving neighbors with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Additional Services

We do not offer delivery at this time.

You may want to check with Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana about their delivery options.

We do offer by-proxy shopping for those unable to visit in person.

In addition to providing food, we have an on-site garden, monthly health clinics from the fall-spring, and provide community wrap around services through community partnerships. View our partners page for more information.
